RubyDuke Communications has been recognised for their quality Medical Writing at the PharmaTimes Communications Awards 2024.
Samuel Lethbridge, Scientific Director and Medical Writer, took home the award for Medical Writer of the year award for Healthcare Professionals on Thurs 14th Nov, in what was a toughly-contested category of seven finalists.
The Medical Writer award allows “you to challenge yourself in a confidential environment, whilst also having the opportunity to pitch yourself against your peers across the sector”, PharmaTimes say. Entrants must demonstrate comprehension of the brief, an ability to identify the key messages, develop copy that is audience appropriate, while blending accuracy and regulatory compliance, within the tight time limit.
The brief this year was to draft a digital discussion aid for UK Medical Liaison team to use with non-Huntington’s Disease specialists, to encourage a more proactive approach to identifying HD early in presentation, within 2.5 hours. An added challenge was to highlight the need for familial testing to clinical commissioning teams.

RubyDuke also made the finalists shortlist in a second competitive category for the team Charity Challenge, supporting Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization, or HDYO, who support, educate, and empower young people up to 35 years, impacted by Huntington’s Disease (HD).
Joe, Paul, Pippa, Kelly and Sam put their strategic marketing skills to the test to help HDYO overcome a series of challenges they are facing. While RD didn’t win the prize this time, we’re incredible proud of our submission and the teamwork demonstrated, and relished the chance to turn our hand to support a new charity for us.
